1. Adding Location: The new feature lets you add location to any image while viewing it, which was previously not possible after an image was already uploaded. You have to do it from the maps feature. But now you can alter the location of any of your uploaded images at time you choose directly from the image viewing screen.

2. Specify a date to show it on your timeline: Since the new timeline has launched and has constantly being promoted, you can add any image to your timeline from the timeline page of your profile. With the new theater mode you can add any image to your timeline right from the interface you are viewing it. That’s neat.

Apart from these all the older features are still present there which are rotating images, tagging people or choosing them as your profile picture. The new change looks more tidy and the left to right positioning of the elements (comments, location, date, description etc) offers complete viewing without you needing to scroll down through the page.

It’s hard to tell if the new layout is live for everyone but quite a few people have it already activated on their profile as far my connections go. Well my guess is this is still in beta phase and live for a few people only. Here’s a sneak peek before you can try your hands on it.

So let us see how to enable built-in administrator account in Windows 8.

1. Type lusrmgr.msc on start screen and open the app that appears as the search result. Alternatively start the Run (Windows Key + R), type lusrmgr.msc and hit enter. This will open the Local Users and Account Manager (LUSRMGR).

2. In the LUSRMGR window, double click the users folder to show the list of local user accounts.

3. Once the Administrator account is there, right-click on it and choose Properties. In the Properties dialog, uncheck the option “Account is disabled”.

4. As mentioned earlier, since the admin account enjoys all the rights and is free from UAC, it is highly recommended to maintain a strong password to ensure secured access. To change the password, right click on the Administrator user and choose Set Password.

5. You will be shown a warning stating the risks of changing the password. Read it and use the Proceed button to go to the password changing dialog.

6.  Change the password in the next window and press OK. Th password will be needed next time you want to access the administrator account from the logon screen.

Restart or log off from your current account to see the changes in action.

The administrative account is kept hidden purposefully for for making the system fool-proof against any unintended (or intended) misuse of the OS. 1. Start Run (Windows Key + R). Type regedit and hit enter to open the registry editor.

NOTE 1: Prior to making any changes in the Windows registry, it is recommended to backup Windows registry settings so you can revert back in case something goes wrong.

2. Now from the left pane, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer. Once that is done, look out for the registry key RPEnabled.

3. Now double-click the entry to change the DWORD data value to 0 (zero). Once that is done, close the registry editor and restart Windows (or just log off and log back in) to see the changes in effect.

MiniLyrics is an add-on to a music player. It acts as a tool which automatically searches, retrieves and displays the synchronized scrolling lyrics for the song that is playing.

The Behind Story

Well it has a growing database of lyrics. The moment your player starts playing a number, MiniLyrics will search the lyrics for that song in the database and displays it in a synchronized manner along with the song being played. If you change songs in your play list MiniLyrics automatically switches to the appropriate lyrics.

At present MiniLyrics supports around 24 players. These are Zune., Yahoo! Music Engine, XMPlay, Winamp, Windows Media Player, VLC media player, Songbird, RealPlayer, Musicmatch Jukebox, MediaMonkey, jetAudio, J. River Media Center, iTunes, Helium Music Manager, BSPlayer and AIMP to name a few. Merely installing MiniLyrics is not sufficient for all the players. Some players may need some settings changes to run MiniLyrics.

MiniLyrics is not just limited to searching and displaying lyrics in a synchronized manner. It offers more. Now users can write and submit lyrics as well as download and edit lyrics using the built-in lyrics editor. The lyrics can be saved in Lyrics3v2, unsynchronized and synchronized ID3v2 formats. This results in multiple lyrics for the same number. Users can select any one particular lyric in such a scenario. Users must register in order to do these changes.

Users can also change the tempo of the scrolling lyric while the song being played is not in sync with the scrolling.

I tried MiniLyrics with Windows Media Player and its works fine. It was great new experience. VLC player needs some preference settings to start MiniLyrics automatically along with it.

Lyrics plugin is yet another choice that does the job for you. All you need to do is download the necessary plugin for the player of your choice and install it on your system. Currently supported players are Windows Media Player, Winamp and iTunes. The best part about this plugin is that if any lyrics isn’t available by default, you can add them.

Facebook has recently rolled out a new feature. It was too quite to notice. The new feature in question lets you broadcast your pregnancy to the world via Facebook. Expectant can display the expecting child under their family members. Although, there will no new account creation for the child and it will be listed under the parent profile only.

How to do all of that

1. Go to your profile.

2. Click the Edit Profile and finally go to your Friends and Family section to add a new member.

3. Add a name and then in the select relation dropdown choose “Expected: Child”.

4. Hit Save Changes button to add the new member.

Once added your profile will display the expected child with a default Facebook profile image and a new status will be posted under your recent activity.

The funny part…

It was reported, that the new Facebook feature has a flaw, like always, which lets you tag any friend on Facebook as your “Expected child”. Not only that Facebook also asks the tagged person to verify the newly tagged relation. However, Facebook did a quick fix and it is fine now.

However, a new glitch has surfaced. I tried adding a name with a different surname for my *expected* son. And it worked. Its true anybody can choose their name but for an infant or yet-to-be-born his legal parents got the right to decide the name and that is necessary for all legal claims, right?

The interface lists all the available fonts that you can download from the Google Fonts directory. Every font comes with a nice preview so you can see how they look before you choose whether to download it or not. Once you have decided to download any font click the “Add to Collection” button (to the right) to add them to your collection. You can add multiple fonts to your collection and download the collection to get the chosen fonts all at once.

There is also a search feature that you can use to search for your favorite font in the Google font repository. Below the search box there are different filters which you use to narrow the search for the font of your choice.

The font preview can also be customized to get the feel of the text (say, you are looking for a font for your project/website header) you wish to use the font for. You can choose to edit the display text and its size. You can also choose to display the preview in three modes, word, sentence and paragraph.

Once you are done adding the fonts of your choice to the collection, you can go ahead and download Google web fonts to install them on your computer.

The fonts in the Google font gallery can also be used on any webpage adopting proper CSS methods. For that you need to choose “Use” from the bottom right corner (refer screenshot above). The page that loads next will help you with insights(impact on page load time) and procedures to use the font(s) on your web page.

Go to Play’em website and connect the app with your Facebook account. Once you have connected them successfully, the page will reload and a player will be loaded.

The Player:

On the left side of the player the playlist will be loaded which will feature the videos shared by your Facebook friends. The player also features a section below it. This displays the name(s) of your Facebook friends who shared the video. There is also a Facebook share button which you can use to share any video on your Facebook profile.

The Idea:

I must admit that on numerous occasions I have discovered great videos via Facebook courtesy my friends there. And isn’t that how a social network is supposed to do? This is is the power of networking. Earlier I had to manually search for links shared by my friends and then sort out the videos. However, now that the Play’em is here, I won’t have to waste much of my precious time to look out for good videos. In easy English, the idea is great.

Cons:

1. Is it really necessary to make it compulsory to promote the brand on every share? The “via Playem” link is nice an on every share made through the service.

2. The playlist pane needs to have a scroll. Although all videos are listed, you have no way to see what’s next or choose from the tracked ones until they are played automatically.

Although the tool does what it is meant to do, some cherry on the ice would have made it perfect. I deeply feel for the need of basic playlist controls like Previous, Next, Repeat and Shuffle.

Adrien Joly, the developer, is a drummer himself. He is also working on future projects like Why’d. As for this project, I definitely recommend Facebook users who like me is looking for an easier alternative to watch videos shared by his/her friends to use it.
