VaultPress: Backup Your WordPress Blog to an Offsite Location
Automattic, the company behind WordPress is all set to launch a backup service for WordPress blogs called Vaultpress. Using Vaultpress, you would be able to back up your entire WordPress blog in real time.
All you have to do is install a plugin and give Vaultpress the access to backup your blog. With VaultPress, you can choose to backup multiple blogs as well. The site is in invite only Beta right now and you can sign up to request an invite and use the service for $20 a month.
Vaultpress says that it will backup your blog to an offsite location which means all the files and database backup will be stored in their servers and not with your web host. Quite similar to Backupify – a similar service which can be used to backup your blogs, social profiles and store the backup files in the cloud.
VaultPress or Backupify ?
But there are reasons to choose Vaultpress over Backupify. First, Vaultpress is the same company which made WordPress, so I think they will have an edge because of the trust factor. Second, in addition to the site backups, Vaultpress will also fix minor bugs to make sure your WordPress installation is patched and up to date. Thanks Nakodari.
