How to Auto Detect, Read and Subscribe to RSS Feeds in Google Chrome

Written by Amit Banerjee on 2 Dec, 2009 Under Web Tools

Google chrome still doesn’t support RSS feeds and thus you can not detect the RSS feed of a blog from the address bar (as you normally do in other browsers like Firefox, IE, Safari etc). However here is a neat trick which will let you read, subscribe and auto detect the RSS feed of a Blog or a website from Google chrome.

First things first, go to this website and drag and drop the two bookmarklets in your Google chrome address bar. One of the bookmarklet can be used to auto detect and view the feed while the other can be used to subscribe to the feed in your feed reader (e.g Google reader, Bloglines etc)

Now browse to a blog having a valid RSS feed and hit the Auto detect bookmarklet. You will be shown the links to subscribe to that feed in your feed reader. [ via RWW ]

Feedly – Turn Google chrome into an RSS Reader

Feedly can be used to turn Google chrome into an RSS reader. But apart from regular RSS readers like Google reader, Feedemon it works on the feeds of the recently visited blogs

To install Feedly, just open this page in Google chrome and hit continue to install the Feedly extension.

Once installed, click the Green icon in the right top of Google chrome toolbar to start Feedly. Feedly will open a new tab and create an RSS digest of your most visited sites in a cool magazine format.

While this is no alternative of a full fledged Rss reader, Feedly can be useful when you want to quickly grasp the recent entries of the blogs you visit on a regular basis.
