Open Full Size Images in Google Image Search – Find Images of A Specific Width Or Height

Google image search is a great place to find relevant and quality images  for any topic. Many people use Flickr and other image search engines but when it comes to relevancy and quality, nothing beats Google image search.

But there is just a small problem – when you search for a keyword and hit Enter, the image search results are shown as thumbnail previews only. You have to click an image thumbnail and then click “Show full size image” link in the next page to view the full sized image in Google image search engine.

This can be really frustrating as well as time consuming when you are downloading a lot of photos from Google Image search engine and want to download full sized version of every image. Here are some useful Google image tips to automatically open the largest possible size and high resolution version of an image found on Google Image search engine:

Using A Firefox Add-on to Directly Open The Full Sized Image

To solve this, you can use Firefox image help add-on. This extension adds a new entry in the right click context menu and lets you directly view the full sized images in the search result page of Google image search.

This is quite handy and saves me a good amount of time finding out the perfect image, viewing it’s full sized version and then I can download the image on my computer. There are quite a few options available – you can view the URL of the image, view more information about that image or completely block all images from a particular domain.

Greasemonkey fans can try the same by installing view Google images full userscript.

See Different Sizes Of The Same Image

Google Images has recently introduced a new feature which lets you find images of different sizes and dimensions. Let’s say you are searching for “Apple” but want a really big wallpaper or poster size of the image. In such situations, it’s certainly a good idea to compare different image sizes and download the specific image which fits your requirements.

To see images of different sizes for a particular keyword or phrase, simply hover your mouse cursor over an image thumbnail and you should see a “More sizes” link, as shown in the following example search

This is very useful when you want to see and compare a lot of sample images on the same subject and then download the perfect dimension which you are looking for.

Google Images has a built in tool to find images, wallpapers and HD photos of a specific dimension. All you have to do is hit the “Exactly” link in the left sidebar of Google Image search result pages and then enter your preferred width and height of the photo.

The developers have recently added one more feature of sorting images by subject, so you should check that out too. This feature lets you find related images matching with your search query. The advantage of sorting images by subject is that you would certainly find some meaningfull results which need not match a specific dimension but it’s the exact match photo which you were looking for weeks.
