Get Firebug in Google Chrome

Much anticipated, Firebug is now available as a Chrome extension and you can start enjoying its rich features from Google Chrome.

Firebug is a must use tool for webmasters and bloggers. It lets you inspect the HTML codes within a webpage and play with the style elements in real time. Other than that, it can also be used to measure the performance of your site (combined with Yslow of course), analyze the load time and so much more.

Install Firebug in Google chrome

You can install the Firebug lite extension for Google chrome from the official extension page.

Firebug Lite is not a substitute of the original version as some features that are still missing. Although the extension provides the same visual representation as well as the real time CSS styling. Unfortunately, you will miss out on Yslow support which is only available in Firebug add-on for Firefox. Features like .NET panel, external code support and JavaScript debugger panel are also pending.

Example: In some pages where the CSS is called using the @import property, you have to manually edit the code in the compute tab to see the difference. You miss out on the real time inputs.

The main difference that I found out, is the speed of the toolbar. In Google Chrome, Firebug lite loads before all other scripts and stores the codes and images in the installation folder of the extension.
