GMail – Now in Indian languages also
Gmail is now live with Indian languages. Send your emotions packed up in your mail. I’m happy to be Gmail user now, as my mom too feels comfortable e-mailing me while I’m away.
As we already know this feature was already there for Google India Labs, Orkut, Blogger and iGoogle. And now this is live for Gmail too. This is done by the transliteration technique. This means, you don’t have to type in hindi, just type in English alphabets maintaining the proper pronunciation, the word will automatically be converted to respective language, i.e. if you type namaste it will make it “नमस्ते” & if you type vanakkam it will show “வணக்கம்”. Right now it supports only 5 languages.
From now on, whenever you are going to compose a new mail see to the left space of the task pane of the editor you’ll find a Hindi letter ”
“ there. If it is not there by default you can enable it from
Settings > General > Language.

Enjoy mailing your friends & relatives. Read more about this news at Google’s Official Blog.
