If you write a Tumble blog, you might have noticed the recent 1 day Tumblr downtime when the entire Tumblr website went down for more than 24 hours.
Tumblr is back on it’s feets but if you want to backup your Tumblr blog for offline reference, here is a simple web app called Tumblr Backup Jammy which will come in handy.
The above Tumblr back up tool lets you specify the address of any Tumblr blog and the number of posts or pages which you want to backup. You may further choose custom type of posts that you want to backup, this includes – backing up Tumblr posts, videos, links, photos, songs and so on.
When you are done selecting the filters, hit the “Go” button and wait for acouple of minutes till the backup tool parses everything in a plain HTML format. Once all the Tumblr blog posts are parsed, you can save the entire webpage in your hard drive – which acts as a backup copy of your own Tumblr blog or anyone else’s.
Agree that this is not an actual backup method and neither you can use the HTML backup to restore everything, at a later point of time. However, the tool might just act as an offline refrence to your Tumblr blog so that you can read a Tumblr blog offline or find older posts without having to go online everytime. If your Favorite Tumblr blog goes down for whatever reasons, it might be a good idea to use this tool and save a backup copy of the Tumblr blog for offline reading.
Personally, I use Httrack website copier for downloading entire websites to my computer and read them when the internet connection goes down.
