Amit :When did you launch your blog and what was your original intention behind it ? What Made you to start Blogging ?

Aparna
:First started blogging in January 2005, thanks to the constant nudging of friends like Dina Mehta, a well known social media evangelist, and Avi Das, a creative Visualiser and fellow writer.

Amit :What your Blog is all about ?

Aparna :I run multiple blogs, writing both in my mother tongue Bangla and English. But my favourite space is my blog Newsmericks, which presents news and current affairs in a limerick form

Amit :How much money do you make from Blogging ?

Aparna :Lol my blogging is not meant to make any money. It is a fun activity for me.

Amit :How many Blogs do you have ? Are you active on all of them ?

Aparna :Currently I am active mostly in Newsmericks. Also I am a member of Global Voiced Online, both as an author covering the Bangla blogosphere and as a Bangla translator on the Bangla lingua site.

Amit :Are you a homemaker ? How is your life offline ?

Aparna :My life offline is absolutely fine. I balance damn well between online and off it :)

Amit :How many Rss feeds do you track daily ?

Aparna :Haven’t counted them but I track all posts on the various Bangla platforms as well as standalone blogs. Also, I read many English blogs, news sites etc., daily through their feeds.

Amit :Where do you Hook to Find interesting And useful Content ?

Aparna :Newsmericks being news based, it it the various news sites that inspire the limericks.

Amit :What would you advice a Blogger who have just Started his Blog ?

Aparna :Write about things you enjoy.

Amit :Three Bloggers whom you Admire the Most ?

Aparna :Very difficult to pick names since I read such a wide array of blogs and platforms.

Amit :How much time do you spend on your blog on a daily basis?

Aparna :On Newsmericks? Maximum one hour, including reading, writing and posting.

Amit :What do you see happening with your blog in the next few years, how will it evolve?

Aparna :Absolutely no idea. Will continue writing as long as I enjoy doing so. As long there is news, I guess there will be potential for Newsmericks!

Amit :What do you think are the biggest trends going on in blogging right now?

Aparna :I think blogging is now more about collaboration and conversation, though the old style of ‘simply blogging’ also continues to exist side by side. In Bangla for example, most of the blogging happens on various platforms which help build a community rather than on standalone blogs. Also, I notice the use of other tools like Twitter for example, or even Facebook, for the purpose of micro-blogging.

Amit :What is your biggest blogging success?

Aparna :Lol I wish I could say that I have landed a movie or a book deal through my blog or even that I changed the world through my posts but unfortunately none of that has happened. I guess the biggest success is that I still manage to write :D

Amit :What would you say to the people who think that Blogging is a waste of Time ?

Aparna :Nothing. Arguing about such things are such a waste of time :)
