How to Keep a window always on top and visible

Written by Amit Banerjee on 11 Oct, 2009 Under Software

While working in your PC you may have several windows open at a time. You run your browser, have windows media player running and simultaneously you are creating an office document. You may like to keep a particular window always on top so that you can see that window while working on a different window. This freeware utility lets you do just that.

Example : You are working on an office document and watching a video in windows media player. The office document is in the “maximized mode” and whenever you switch to the office window the media player window disappears behind the screen.

To solve this download this Autohotkey utility and execute it.Select the window which you want to keep on top and press Ctrl+Space to keep it in front of all other windows. To revert to the normal window press Ctrl+Space again.

Another better solution is provided by Always on top. After installing, run the program from your start menu and it adds a new icon in the system tray. This icon features all the currently opened windows in the system.Right click the icon and select the window that you want to keep on top and it’s done.

Actual Title Buttons (http://www.actualtools.com/titlebuttons/), though a commercial utility, allows making any window stay always-on-stop in a very vivid and intuitive way, as well as many other useful actions (such rolling up, making transparent, minimizing to the tray, etc.).
