We have earlier shared a simple way to skip to a particular section of a YouTube video using a URL trick. This is handy when you want to skip the boring introduction of a movie review and want to listen to the music of a YouTube video that starts after the 2nd minute.
All you have to do is enter the following URL format in your browser address bar and hit “Enter”
This will start the YouTube video at a specific time e.g 1 minute 10seconds.
Link a YouTube Video That Starts From a Specific Time
In case you are wondering how you can link to a YouTube video at specific time, just follow this simple trick.
While watching the YouTube video, right click anywhere on the YouTube player and select “Copy Video URL at current time”.
This will copy the following URL format to your Windows clipboard
Now when you want to link to a specific time of a YouTube video, just use the above link (remember to replace the ID of the video with your own). See example
Works perfect, but there is no way to end the YouTube video at a specific time. So you can’t use the above trick to link to a portion of the YouTube video in the middle.
Embed a YouTube video Starting at specific time
The embedding technique works similarly, simply copy the following embed code, replace the video ID and paste the code in your website’s source
<object width=”425″ height=”344″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/Z6bFyVGvg28&hl=en&fs=1&start=15“></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/Z6bFyVGvg28&hl=en&fs=1&start=15” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”425″ height=”344″></embed>
Replace &start=15 with your defined time interval e.g &start=55. This will start the video after 55 seconds from the start.
As an example, I have embedded the following YouTube video which starts after 15 seconds from the starting time.
