Get The LinkedIn Share Button For Your Website

Following the path of Twitter’s tweet button and Facebook’s social plugins, LinkedIn – the social network for professionals, now has an official LinkedIn Share button which can be embedded in your blog or website.

There are three types of LinkedIN buttons available – horizontal share button, the vertical share button and a compact button with no share count.

Head over to linkedin.com/publishers, choose the style of the button which you want to embed in your blog and you will be given a JavaScript code. Copy the code and add it to the source of your website’s template or WordPress theme.

Adding the LinkedIn Share Buttons To Your WordPress Blog

If your blog is powered by WordPress, simply copy any one of the following codes and paste it in your site’s theme:

The Vertical LinkedIN Share button

<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://platform.linkedin.com/in.js”></script><script type=”in/share” data-url=”<?php the_permalink(); ?>” data-counter=”top”></script>

The Horizontal LinkedIn share button:

<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://platform.linkedin.com/in.js”></script><script type=”in/share” data-url=”<?php the_permalink(); ?>” data-counter=”right”></script>

The Compact LinkedIn Share button:

<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://platform.linkedin.com/in.js”></script><script type=”in/share” data-url=”<?php the_permalink(); ?>”></script>

The function of the button isĀ  all the same – it allows users to share your site’s content on their LinkedIn profile or network.

Good move for LinkedIn, but I don’t think many bloggers will rush installing the LinkedIn button on their blogs. However, the button might just work wonders for job boards, business directories or sites dedicated to professionals.
