How to Remove Words from Google Chrome Spelling Dictionary


Undoubtedly, Google Chrome is one of the best web browsers out there, which is being used by millions of computer and mobile users from cross the globe. When it comes to speed in slow internet connection, people often opt for Google Chrome instead of any other web browser. If you have been using Google Chrome, you might have seen the red underline while writing something like email, or message on Facebook or Google Handouts, etc.

That red underline comes up when the writer writes a wrong word or that is not available in preloaded Chrome dictionary. Sometimes, when you think that you have to use a particular word frequently while writing the email or something else, you can only add that word to the custom spelling dictionary of Google Chrome. The procedure is very simple. Just right click on the wrong word and select Add To Dictionary button to get things done.

However, suppose, you have added many words, and now you want to remove some of them from Custom Spelling Dictionary. Or, suppose, you just came to know the actual word that can be used instead of the word that you have added to your dictionary. The addition or words are very simple, but you have to follow few things to remove words from Google Chrome custom spelling dictionary.


Remove Words from Google Chrome Spelling Dictionary

This is very easy and not much time consuming. Also, you do not have to install any third party extension or software to remove words from Chrome custom dictionary. At first, open Google Chrome and go to Settings. You have to click on Show advanced settings. Here, you should get an option called Language and input settings under the Language menu.

Following that, you will get a popup. On the bottom left section, you should get an option called Custom spelling dictionary. Click on this option.

Now, you will get all the words that you have added to your custom spelling dictionary. To remove any name, you can just hover your mouse over that word and click on the cross button on the right side. Alternatively, you can search for the name if the list is big enough.

For your information, you can also add words to the dictionary from the same page. At to end of the list, you can find an empty box, where you can write your word and save it.
