Resize PNG images Online and Retain Background Transparency

Written by Amit Banerjee on 23 Nov, 2009 Under Web Tools

The problem with most of the image editors is most of them fail to retail image transparency when we edit the pictures. The transparent background of the image is replaced with a colored background when we resize or edit an image. However here is a nice online utility which can restore the background color and will also let you resize the images.

Sure you can fix the problem with image editors like Photoshop, Irfan view etc but if you need a quick solution try image-my-addr. It lets you resize a PNG image online and without losing quality as well as the background properties. ( also see : choose the correct format of images for blog posts )

Here is an example image resized using the website. Notice that the background of both the images are the same though the quality has depreciated.maintain-image-background-resizing

The image to be uploaded must be in PNG format and the maximum allowed size is 4mb. There are also different compression levels available (9 levels ) which you can try.
