The world’s first curved display smartphone has just arrived. And there is no prize for guessing the company which brought this innovation. It was already rumored that Samsung will launch the world’s first curved display smartphone in October. Without wasting any time, the South Korean tech giant went ahead and raised the curtains on this innovative smartphone, which Samsung calls as the Galaxy Round.
Samsung started working on the flexible display even before the first Galaxy S smartphone was launched. The company also showcased the 4.5-inch flexible AMOLED display at the FPD International tech show in 2010. They replaced the traditional glass with a new type of plastic version since it was much easier to mass produce. It was even rumored that the Google’s Nexus S could feature the amazing 4.5 inch flexible display, but it never materialized!
Before unveiling the Galaxy Round, Samsung also used the flexible display technology in its televisions. Yes, Samsung was the world’s first manufacturer to launch the Curved OLED TV at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013. They also showcased two prototype mobile devices that incorporated the flexible AMOLED display technology at the same trade show. Now, you can finally have a look at the world’s first flexible display smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy Round features a 5.7 inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, sporting a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. It packs a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal memory, 13 megapixel auto-focus camera, 2 megapixel front facing camera and more. Thankfully, Galaxy Grand will be shipped with the latest Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) Operating System.

It comes with various connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0, GPS and NFC. A 2800 mAh battery is placed at the back of this device, however we are not sure whether the battery is removable or not.
Samsung Galaxy Round features a unique Roll Effect that allows you to check information such as date, time, missed call and battery easily even when home screen is off. This handset is just 7.9 mm thick and it weighs 154 grams. You can get this device in Luxury Brown color during the initial launch, however more color options will be revealed later. The price of this device is still a mystery.
