There are some old scanners which lets you save a document in image formats e.g PNG or JPEG. After you have finished scanning the document , you have to either use an image to PDF converter or use a PDF printer to convert the scanned document in the required PDF format.

WinScan2PDF is a free portable application for Windows which allows you to scan paper documents and save them as PDF files. All you have to do is select the source of the document to be scanned and hit the “Scan to PDF button”.

Hence you can save yourself from using another image to PDF conversion utlity. The application is free for personal use and works with all Windows versions e.g Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7
