Share YouTube Playlists With Facebook Friends

Once in a while we like to answer a reader question asked over email so that other users who are facing the same problem can get help reading the tutorial.

James asks

How do I share a YouTube playlist with Facebook friends? I can share a particular YouTube video with anyone by just pasting the link in his profile wall, but how do I share the YouTube playlist with my Facebook social circle ?

It’s actually very easy but those who find it difficult to share YouTube playlists outside YouTube will find the following steps very useful. While you are watching the YouTube playlist, copy the URL from the address bar and paste it on your Facebook profile. Unfortunately – you can only share links, status updates, photos or videos in Facebook so there is no special option for “YouTube Playlists”.

You have to share the playlist by pasting the URL only. Now let’s say a playlist has 50 videos and you want to share the 26th video in the playlist with your Facebook friends. How do you do that ?

You may have noticed the URL of a YouTube playlist is of the form

youtube.com/watch?v=ID&feature=&p=2D6033EB2FF41E32&index=0&playnext=1

You can keep refreshing the page or hit the “Next” button to load the next videos of the sequence. When the desired video arrives, copy the URL from your browser’s address bar and post it to your Facebook profile

There is another alternative way as well.

While you are watching the YouTube playlist, keep clicking the thumbnails in the YouTube playlist bar until the desired video appears in the main video window. When the main video arrives, you can right click inside the video player and copy the video link to Windows clipboard.  Now you can share that particular video that is present in the middle of a YouTube playlist with Twitter followers, Facebook friend’s, MySpace contacts and so on.
