Show The Attachment Type Icon in Gmail Messages With a Chrome Extension
Filtering attachments in Gmail can be really tricky, if you get dozens of emails with a file attached to it every single hour. Gmail has some nice search operators which you can use to quickly search the email you are looking for, but if you need a quick way to find sort emails by attachment type, here is a chrome extension which might help.
The Gmail Attachment icons extension helps you to quickly identify the type of attachment in an email message, you can simply look at the right corner of the message row and know whether the attachment is a word document, an image, a PDF or a Zip file.
Here is a view of my Gmail inbox:

The attachment icons also work in email headers and in case an email contains multiple attachments, the icon of the last attachment is shown. Very handy when you want to know the type of the attached file without having to scroll down to the end of the long email message.
The extension works in Google Apps accounts as well, apart from regular Gmail accounts.
