How to Split MP3 Files Online and Create Mobile Ringtones

Written by Amit Banerjee on 3 Mar, 2010 Under Web Tools

There are times when you need only a portion of a large MP3 song. You may want to use a small portion of a song as a mobile ringtone or may be, you want to skip the boring 2 minute intro of an audio podcast.

In most of the cases, using an audio editing software (e.g Audacity) is the answer but if you want a much simpler option, try MP3Cut.net. This site let’s you upload MP3 songs from your computer and then slice them into multiple pieces. Then you can download the individual audio pieces in your computer as MP3 files.

There is no limitation on the number of songs which you can upload at MP3.net. However, the site can not be used to upload songs from a Web URL.

Create a Mobile Ringtone from an MP3 File

Now that you have the portion of the song available, go to MakeownRingtone.com and upload the song. Apart from MP3 files, the site lets you upload other audio formats such as – MP4, AAC, M4R, MPC, OGG and QCP.

From the Advanced tab, you can set the bit rate and apply special effects such as: Bass, Treble, Fades, Reverse and the like. When the ringtone is ready, you can download it to your computer or use a WAP link to directly download in your mobile phone. The site also has an email delivery option which will email you the ringtone once the processing is complete.

Apart from creating ringtones from songs, MakeownRingtone can be used as an online audio converter. You can use it to convert MP3′s to OGG, AAC, MP4, MCP or QCP formats. (Tip: Extract Audio from YouTube videos)
