How to Stop Facebook Photo Tagging And Facebook Video Tagging

If you have too many friends on Facebook, you have faced this situation several times when some of your friends tag you in different photos or videos. This reflects in your wall and news feed and sometimes it can be quite annoying as well.

The most frustrating part are the notifications that appear as a result of photo tagging, you log in to your profile and see someone has tagged you in a picture and others have started commenting on it. Hence you receive dozens of unnecessary notifications which is not at all required.

One of the readers asked me this question via email:

How do I stop others from tagging me in pictures and videos ? Some of the people whom I don’t know keep tagging me on Facebook everyday and I want to permanently disable this feature. I want selected friends to tag myself in photos, not everyone.

To permanently stop Facebook photo tagging and disallow all your friends to tag you in photos, videos and events, follow these simple steps:

You can also type the name of your friends to hide your photo tagging activity, That’s it, you are all done.

Now no one can tag you in any random Facebook image or video and you will never get those distracting tag notifications.

How to Allow Only Specific Friends to Tag You in Photos and Videos

1. Go to the privacy settings page and select “Things Other share section”.

2. Choose “Photos and Videos I am tagged in” and click “Customize”.

Thanx for this article. This spam tagging on facebook is absolute nuisance… The more frustrating thing is getting notifications on that tagged pic from unknown irrelevant people.

@Sukrit: yes Facebook spam photo tagging is surely very frustrating and I highly recommend users to set the photo tagging option to private or to selected Facebook friends. Thanks for the comment

Looks like you didn’t research enough before writing this article. Create another FB account, add it to your friend list, and see if you can stop this secondary account from tagging your main account in a photo after making these settings.

I have the “Photos and videos I’m tagged in” set to “ONLY ME” for at least a couple of months now… and still people have been tagging me in their photographs! AND I have been receiving notifications of comments etc on those photos from strangers!

I think that there are different options available to people depending on where they are around the world. I am in Australia and I followed these steps and on my account it tells me that the photos/videos I get tagged in will only be visible to me.

That’s not what I want. I want it so that my friends can see the photos/videos I’m tagged in, but that ONLY I can tag myself. Or that if I get tagged, I have to approve it first before it shows up on my profile. I’d prefer it didn’t appear in the news feed too.

@Tom: Yeah, I agree Facebook’s photo tagging is confusing and it’s one of the most annoying features i have ever seen. If you allow tagging of photos only for yourself, your friends will have the access to tag you too. The FB developers have recently updated this version, which is not very useful

My Dear Friend By this Option you can only hide the pictures with others .. no one can see in which pictures or video ur tagged, but you can’t stop peoples to tagging you
there is no option till now to stop tagging you in photos and videos
