Cloud services needs to be managed well, which lays the importance of backing up and managing cloud services data from a centralized place. Joukuu is a service which brings all your favorite cloud services together and displays them in a single easy to use User Interface (UI).

Joukuu basically helps users of Google Docs, Drobox, Box.net to manage their files on a single platform, hop from one service to the other, share one’s files with the other and manage all services together without having to separately manage each one of them. Moreover, Joukuu also lets users backup their files, edit documents from desktop and upload files and folders from Windows right-click context menu.

After Joukuu has been downloaded and installed, the first time all your cloud services account must be added to Joukuu. Once this step has been added, Jokuu will automatically populate and categorize files in the main window. Similarly, new files and folders can also be synched. This option is available just underneath the navigation bar.

Files can be moved around from one service to the other by simply dragging and dropping files from one account to the other. For example, if you want to move a file from Box.net to Drobox, just drag the Box.net file and drop it into the Drobox file which will add the file to the Drobox root file location. Every change made to the files must be synched to record the changes made.

Joukuu also adds context menus to backup and upload files directly. Files are backed up to any e-mail address which you specify.

Currently, Joukuu is in beta testing phase and there are problems which exist with working with Google Docs. However, this is expected to be resolved once the service matures as time passes on. Over the years, the one limitation of Windows clipboard which has not been overcome is that it can only store one item at a single point in time. This means, if you copy two or more items, the first one gets overwritten by the last one. This means that multiple items cannot be stored in the Windows Clipboard at the same time. In order to overcome this limitation, we’ve come up with a desktop application which can be used to add some interesting and aptly needed functionality to the Windows Clipboard.

Clipboard Master is an application designed to do so. It stores all copied items in the clipboard and allows users to use the conventional Ctrl+V option to paste the last selected item. Clipboard Master comes with a selection menu which displays a list of stored items. These items are categorized by icons placed in front of every entry indicate the type, for instance text, URL etc.

Clipboard Master also features a small history window which offers an easy to access menu which also categorizes copied items according to their type. You can access similar items by selecting their type from the expanding menu on the left. Options menu is also available to add or delete entries from those groups.

Clipboard Master features a lot of additional options as well which can be explored into further details if additional functionality is required. These include an extensive list of keyboard shortcuts and hotkeys, automatic formatting and special pasting options etc.

However, the default sound options available via these controls are somewhat limited. In order to have complete control of your PC’s sound settings, we recommend a new desktop utility for Windows, Volumouse 2. Volumouse2 is a utility designed to provide user to control the sound options via their mouse. Volumouse2 basically adds functionality to the mouse wheel about different sound settings.

Installing Volumouse2 is simple and once in startup, users can configure many settings related to sound control via mouse. Volumouse2 gives users the ability to specify up to 12 sound controlling rules via their mouse. First you have to specify the volume mixer device fro your PC and a few default options are already activated. Options can be setup for any sound device connected to the PC. Layout changes can be made on how the volume control that is displayed when the feature is activated, hotkeys for increasing and decreasing the volume (in case mouse wheel settings are not specified). Default options which are activated upon installation and can be changed by holding down the Alt key on the keyboard, or the left mouse button, while using the scroll wheel of the mouse to turn the volume up or down.

Volumouse2 is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows and has full support for Microsoft Windows XP, Vista and 7. Windows Vista and 7 users are provided with an additional facility via Volumouse2 which is application specific volume control. This means you can turn off colume settings for selected applications while keeping it on for others. For example, if you want to take a call on Skype, you can mute all other sound options except for Skype volume.

I recently discovered a free app called f.lux. F.lux works by changing the overall color of your screen based on what time of day it is. You can input a latitude and longitude, and the program will determine when your sunrise and sunset are. The overall effect is hard to describe, so I made a short video to try and show what exactly happens.

Setting Up f.lux

Setting up your f.lux installation is very easy. When you install it, it will add a small icon to your task bar, and from there you can access the setting menu.

When you click the icon, you will see this screen. There is the option to disable the product for one hour if you are doing color sensitive work. To edit the options, press the ‘Change Settings’ button.

In the settings, you can edit the levels of the each effect. Here, you can also input the location as well has change the transition speed (either 20 seconds or 60 minutes.)

Thoughts on Eye-Saving f.lux

As you can see, the interface is very simple. However, the effects are really great. As a blogger and a student, I work late nights sometimes, and I find the f.lux has changed my feeling about doing it. I really like this little application.
