Facebook is long known for the lack of privacy. Well this time its not Facebook but a Facebook fed app. Breakup Notifier is a Facebook app by Dan Loewenherz that can notify you when your friend changes his/her Facebook relationship status.

Pros:

The app developers has a Twitter update that says, “You like someone. They’re in a relationship. Be the first to know when they’re out of it.”. Yeah, that’s quite true if I could be at his/her side to console him/her for the loss.

Cons:

1. If someone gets separated from their mate, he/she most likely will not be in a mental state to talk about it let alone changing his/her Facebook relationship status. However, if he/she does that and keeps it public you’ll see it on Facebook itself. And if he/she chooses to keep it private, using the app and knowing it will definitely be called an invasion of privacy.

2. On the other hand, somebody can take the ill advantage of it too. Considering that, it’s freaky, as you could be one who is secretly being stalked by someone. Consider the case I mentioned in title of this post.

It is no doubt a fun tool with a unique idea. I can bet on its popularity considering the nuisance it can prove to be. However, if used for a noble purpose this is indeed a great way of staying updated about one you care.

A Periodic Table Of All Google API’s

So much to code, so little time !

Here is a nice periodic table for all Google API’s which will help you go through the links of each Google service which has an API to offer.

All the API’s are categorized an elements in a periodic table, Android taking up the position of Hydrogen. While it shouldn’t been so, since Google’s image search and Language translation API were introduced earlier than other products e.g Chrome, Google Buzz or Google Check out.

If you are a developer, you can use Google’s API to incorporate the technology of Google’s products into your services, applications or websites. For example: If you tun a shopping portal, you can use Google Checkout’s API and let customers buy products using Google Checkout. Or if you have developed a web application, you can use Google’s image search API and allow your users to find relevant images, graphics directly from your desktop, web or mobile app.

The periodic table comes in handy, when you want to see what are all the API’s which Google offers for free. No need to bookmark the link of each and every API page, just bookmark the periodic table and access the API documentation of any Google service quickly.

What are the first things that comes to your find when someone yells “Internet” ?

Different people have different perceptions of this never ending ever expanding thing called Internet. From Email to Facebook to Wikipedia to YouTube – the list of websites gets bigger everyday.

Some guys thought it would be a nice idea to portray what children think of Internet to be like. Hence the idea – Can You Draw the Internet ?

The site contains an impressive collection of hand drawn paintings by children, trying to portray the idea, methodology and working of the biggest computer network that uses the TCP/IP protocol ….. okay in short ” The Internet”.

This one is very simple, not enough junk and clearly describes how different people use the “Internet”. Online gaming, music, email and some spam of course !

Can you imagine where would the internet be without Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg ? (Question: Where is Google ?)

This one is again very meaningful. You sit all day long in front of the computer (see the question mark in the clock) and the internet vomits all the information you want – really loved the binary graphic.

Curse Bird is an online tool that features tweets from public timeline that mentions words like “fuck”, “Shit”, “Bitch”, “Dick”, “Bastard” etc. So you get to know who is cursing. It has also got a “curse index” (screenshot above) like the stock exchanges.

A Twitter App That is Literally “Weird” :

So far I have mentioned some odd Twitter apps. Here is one that literally lists those tweets that mention the phrase “weird habit”. The name of the app is itself Weird Habits.

Need A Recipe ? Twitter can help :

Twecipe is an app which can suggest you recipes from its database from any number of ingredients you wish. You can use the online tool or follow @twecipe and send them the list of ingredients and they will DM you back with the most appropriate dish that can be made using those ingredients.

There are so many websites which let’s you convert text’s and sentences into speech but if you want Firefox to read out sentences, here is something interesting.

Text to Voice is a Firefox extension which let’s you convert text’s and sentences into Mp3′s. The MP3 file is played live on the browser and you do not have to download the file to hear it.

After the add-on is installed, highlight some text on a web page and click the small speaker icon placed at the right bottom of Firefox window.

This will open a new browser tab and the selected text will be played as an mp3 file. The Mp3 file can also be downloaded in your computer or mobile device. This can be really useful, when you do not have time to read a long article and want to hear the audio version of a web page in your Ipod or mobile device.

Yes, you can change the Google homepage photo with your image or any image of your choice. This amazing Firefox add-on let’s you choose a custom image for the Google homepage and search result pages.

Google background changer is a Firefox add-on that let’s you change the background of Google home page and the search result pages with a custom image of yours. You can use an image stored in your computer or you can even use an image from the web.

Here is how the Google homepage looks with my image used

Auto rotate Images in the Google homepage with a Custom image of yours

This is what makes this add-on fun to use. You can auto rotate a gallery of pictures to appear in the Google homepage as page background. The chosen set of pictures will be automatically added as page background as you reload the Google homepage or any search result pages.

To do that, browse to the add-on preferences and click “Use gallery”. After that just navigate to the folder where you have saved all your images. That’s it. Share your Google homepage background with friends

Okay you have installed the add-on and have set your image in the Google homepage. Now what ? You can share the background with your friends by emailing them, or posting a link at Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites.

Just after you have changed the background, the add on will ask you whether you want to share this background with any of your friends. One of the best Firefox add-ons i have ever seen. It can be used to fool a friend for sure.

No, this is not an April fool prank.You can actually use Feeddemon to play game and chill a bit.

Too much unread items in your feed reader ? If you use Feeddemon as your default feed reader, you can handle information overload with this funny game built right inside Feeddemon.

Open Feeddemon and type FeedDemon Easter Egg in the web search address bar located on the extreme right. A default game will open up which you can play using your arrow keys. Funny !

The basic idea of the game is to keep your unread feed counts to a Minimum. Catch the unread feed Items (shown in blue) and avoid the spams (the yellow squares ). If you miss an A-List Blogger the unread count increases by 2.

Sometimes when you get bored out reading too much feeds and news stories, you can try this Game for refreshment.
