The Male-Female Ratio In Social Networks

Do you know that more than 80 % of the social networking sites have more female user’s than male. This includes: Twitter, Facebook, Digg, Myspace, Friendfeed etc.The folks at Pingdom have come up with a nice study as illustrated by the folowing chart:

It’s interesting to see that

  1. Most of the social sites have more female readers than male.
  2. Bookmarking and microblogging sites (like Delicious, Facebook and Twitter) maintain an equal balance among male and female users.
  3. Males outweigh females on Social news sites like Digg, Reddit and Slashdot.

The data has been gathered from Google ad planner.

    Not true for India. The M:F ratio still hovers on the 80:20 number. Source: FB stats for targeting.
