Internet Explorer 9 has some really nice features and a reinvented browser interface. The downloads are faster and the browser now supports hardware acceleration too. However if you don’t want to use Internet explorer 9 and want to revert back to an older version of Internet explorer, here are the steps you need to follow.
When you install Internet Explorer 9, the program overwrites the files of the older Internet explorer installation which means that the newer version will replace any earlier version of IE in your operating system.
How to Uninstall Internet Explorer 9
1. First go to Windows control panel from Start Menu> Control panel.
2. Click “Programs and Features”
3. Find the link “View Installed updates” in the sidebar, as shown below:
4. Now windows will show you all the updates that are installed in your computer. Find “Windows Internet Explorer 9” and click the uninstall button as shown below:
Clicking the “Uninstall” button will start the uninstallation procedure. A simple wizard will open, just follow the instructions of the Uninstall wizard and Internet Explorer 9 will be removed from your Windows operating system.
After the wizard is complete, you will have to restart the computer for the changes to take effect. When you restart the computer, launch Internet explorer and you will see that the older version of Internet Explorer is back again.
I tested the above procedure on my laptop running Windows7 and it worked as expected. After uninstalling IE9, I was able to use Internet Explorer8 after the system restart. If you are using an even older version of IE (e.g IE7 ), this procedure will restore the older version as well.
The above procedure works for Windows 7 and Windows Vista but I am very sure it will work the same way in Windows XP as well.
