Upload and Share Powerpoint Presentations With Facebook Friends

Slideshare and Scribd are two great sites to upload Powerpoint presentations and then you can share the presentation with anyone by sending them the link or by embedding the code in your blog or website.

But if you want to upload Powerpoint presentations in your Facebook profile, you are in a fix. This is because Facebook does not yet support uploading and sharing of popular document formats like Word, Powerpoint, PDF or Excel.

Recently one of my friends asked me a question:

I have a lot of Powerpoint presentations stored in my computer, which I want to share with my Facebook friends. Is there a way I can upload the pptx file in my Facebook profile? I don’t want to use document sharing websites because I would want my friends to view the presentation without leaving Facebook and would want them to comment on it.

It’s a fair question. We will use a document sharing site, (read Slideshare) but the approach would be slightly different. Here are the steps you need to follow:

1. Login to your Facebook account and add the Slideshare Facebook application as a tab or a page.

2. This will add a Slideshare page in your profile and you can browse and view popular presentations from the Slideshare website directly from Facebook.

3. If you already have a Slideshare account, click “Sync Slideshare.net account” and the application will connect Facebook with your Slideshare account. Your Facebook presentations will show up on SlideShare (and vice versa), get views & comments from its global audience and becomes searchable on search engines.

4. If you do not have a Slideshare account, click the upload tab and upload the presentation file from your computer.

5. You are all done.

Browse to your profile page and select the “Slideshare” tab. This will open all the presentations which you have uploaded in your Slideshare account. Select the presentation which you want to share and post it in your wall.

Your friends can then view the presentation directly from Facebook, post comments or likes. The best thing about this technique is that you don’t have to download anything or email all your friends with the link of the presentation. There is no limit to the number of presentations that you can upload or maximum file size per upload.

Another advantage is that the presentations are saved in your Facebook account, as long as you do not disable the Slideshare App. Later, you can create a Slideshare account and download all the presentations in your computer.
