What is Google Chrome Os: First Looks, Images and Video
Google announced the release of Chrome Os on Friday – an attempt by Google to redefine the way we use computers and operating systems. Here are some videos, images of the new Chromium operating system.
What is Chrome Os ?
Before you read any further, watch the following 3 minute video which gives a beautiful overview of Google Chrome OS.
As you can see, Chrome is an attempt by Google to move your operating system in to the web, so that you can access it on any computer. All your data, images, songs, videos are stored in the cloud and there aren’t any system crashes, long installations and virus attacks.
I have installed chrome Os on a virtual machine and here is how the Chrome Os interface looks

So What Difference does it make anyway ?
Google chrome Os is expected (and it actually is) to be quite different than a “regular” operating system. Here are a few things that makes Chrome Os different:
1. The Browser itself is the Operating System: Yes, you read it right. Google chrome itself acts as the operating system apart from the web browser. You need to sign in to your Google account to access your operating system.
2. No System crashes, forget the word “Format”: How often do you format your system and rebuild it from scratch ? You have CD’s and Dvd’s stored in case you need to format your Windows or Linux operating system. With chrome os, you can safely dump those Cd’s as there are no options to format anything. Your operating system is stored in the cloud and you can’t destroy it or think to rebuild it.
3. No Software or driver Installations: All apps in Chrome Os are web based and hence there are no software installations required. Also there is no need to search and install all those system drivers. Forget Ms-office, Tweetdeck, Adobe Air etc and take your hand on the cloud.
4. Highly Secured: As a user, you do not have access to the root folder of your operating system. Applications running inside chrome os are designed to prevent malware and virus attacks. If the system detects something peculiar, it will restore the affected areas from the cloud. The Os is also designed to auto update at boot time.
5. Maximum Speed: According to Google, “Every Millisecond counts”, and this property is reflected in Chrome Os implementation. The Operating system boots at blazing speed and you can begin surfing in less than a minute.
Have you tried out the Google chrome Os ?

Does Chrome OS include a POP3/Imap email client, and can you save downloaded files to a USB memory stick?
@AC : Good question. As i said, All applications in Chrome OS are web apps and thus you can’t transfer files in a usb stick. The browser itself is the Operating system and thus no POP or IMAP client.
Thank you for answering my question.
