WordPress Tip :Turn Off picture Thumbnails to Save Server Space

While creating Blog Posts WordPress Automatically creates thumbnails of the Images used.In most cases these Thumbnails are not required.Use the following  trick To stop WordPress create thumbnails of your Post images.

Open your Default image Upload Folder and you can see how WordPress has created thumbnails of your Post images.By default your Images are stored in wp-content/uploads.Thumbnails

Turning Off Picture thumbnails

From your WordPress Admin panel Navigate to Settings—> Miscellaneous and clear the Thumbnail Sizes field.By Default it is set to 150 X 150.Just Clear those fields and that’s All.Wordpress wont create any more thumbnails when you insert an image in your posts.

Additional tip : When you add an image to a post It is recommended to Not to Link to the Image.When you Later remove any image or Thumbnail you may get “404 Not found” errors as those images are linked.The Advantage of not linking your post images Is that If you are using Google Webmaster Tools you will get More Accurate Reports.Search engines will Crawl These Images even if you Don’t Link to them.So i would recommend to “Not to Link your Post images”.
