After a very long time, Microsoft has finally changed their strategy to provide an update to the stable version Windows user. If you are an Insider Preview build user, you might know that Microsoft has been launching a new build in every week. Therefore, if you want to get updates faster, you have to opt for that. Otherwise, you will get updates very slowly. This article will help you to choose how to you want to get Windows 10 Insider Preview build updates on your machine.
Previously, Microsoft used to launch Service Pack. However, now the scenario has been changed. Now Microsoft has been launching Insider Preview to test an update before providing to the stable version. In other words, there are two types of Windows users now. First, who use the stable version and get an update almost once or twice in every year. Second, Insider Preview builds users, who get update at least thrice in every month. In the Insider Preview, there are two categories i.e. Fast ring and Slow ring. Fast ring users get updates very quickly. They get an update on the day of launch. However, slow ring users get an update after almost two weeks of launching any update. Therefore, if you think that you can handle the change of Insider program so quickly, you can certainly opt for the Fast ring.
Change How Fast You Want to Get Windows 10 Insider Preview Build Updates
By default, Windows 10 Insider Preview users use the Slow ring since this is the default option. However, this is possible to change how fast someone wants to get an update on his/her machine. This setting can be changed right from the Settings panel, and there is no need to use any third-party tool for this job.
Therefore, open the Settings Panel on your computer. To do so, you can simply type Settings in the Taskbar search box. Alternatively, you can find that in Win + X menu. After opening Settings panel, go to Update & security. On the left-hand side, you can find Windows Insider Program option. Click on that. On your right-hand side, you can find an option aka What pace do you want to get new builds? In the corresponding drop-down menu, you can find Slow as selected option. Just click on the same drop-down menu, and choose Fast.
That’s it! According to Microsoft, this setting does not affect immediately. You need to wait for some time to get the change and next updates. However, while testing it personally, it started working within 48 hours. However, there is no guarantee whether your timing would be same or not.
