iMessage is the messaging app for iOS, which is widely popular among iPhone users. People have been using iMessage for a long time now and most of the users are pretty much satisfied. Although, some people are in need of more features in this messaging app but still they are very much satisfied. The most important feature of iMessage is you can send image, video as well as audio message without any problem. This is very simple to send.
Just tap the mic button to record audio. On the other hand, you can use the camera icon in order to send image or video. The recipient can get the message instantly – though it depends on your carrier and file size.
However, most of the iMessage users have faced one problem. iMessage automatically deletes the audio and video message after 2 minutes. There is an advantage as well as disadvantage. The advantage is you can get more free space and this particular function has been designed to do that actually. On the other hand, the disadvantage is you cannot get your audio or video message after 2 minutes, which means if someone has sent you an important message, you will not get it after predefined time. Therefore, you may get into trouble because of this specific function of iMessage.
Apple mainly designed this feature so that users can get more free space as 16GB iPhone users often face plenty of storage issue after using the mobile for a few couple of weeks. Whenever, you will start gathering files, your storage will start reducing. At the end of the day, only 1 or 2 GB storage will be left in your mobile. For some people, this is really very important to keep at least 3 or 4 GB memory all the time. If you are one of them or you just want to disable automatic deletion of iMessage video and audio, here is a simple trick. You do not have to download any third party app or jailbreak your iOS device. Apple has already included this option to keep your media files for as long as you want.
Disable Automatic Deletion of iMessage Video and Audio
Just follow the following steps to keep your iMessage media files for a longer time. By default, it is set to 2 minutes. Although, there is no other time option but you can disable this feature permanently.
At first, open stock Settings app on your iOS device. Scroll down and tap on Messages. It will open the corresponding Message settings. Here, you will get two settings i.e. AUDIO MESSAGES and VIDEO MESSAGES. Both are set to 2 minutes, by default. Just tap on the Expire option and select Never.
That’s it! This is as simple as said. Now, as you have set “Never”, your message will not be removed automatically by your mobile.
