It’s been a long time since Apple has launched brand new Passbook app for iOS 6. However, now, Passbook app and services are available for iOS 8 as well that comes with tons of improved features. Before getting started with Passbook for iPhone, let me explain it to you if you don’t know anything about this.
What is Passbook?
In simple line, Passbook is available only on iOS 6 and later version that can store all your passes (or, tickets) in 2D bar code. You can store all kind of passes including movie tickets, online game shop coupons, iTunes passes and more others. Apart from them, this is also possible to use Passbook with Apple Pay that is available on iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.
On the other hand, you can send Passbook passes via email, instant messaging services etc. In fact, you can add passes using Mail, web browser and from Mac too.
You do not have to carry any movie tickets and there is no chance to forget your tickets. With Passbook, you can everything would be kept in mind.
What is location service of Passbook?
This is one of the best feature of Passbook for iPhone. Passbook app lets you enter the location where your passed would be used. That simply means you will get notification on your lock screen to use the pass. For instance, you have a movie pass saved in Passbook application. The pass will be appeared on your iPhone’s lock screen while you will reach to the movie theater.
This is really an awesome feature of Passbook. However, if you do not want to see the notification for Passbook on the lock screen, you will have to disable the location service right from the Passbook app for iPhone. After disabling the location service for Passbook, you will have to remember and open each pass all the time.
How to disable location service for Passbook?
This is simple and you do not need any third party software to get things done. It requires a change in settings.
Step 1: Tap on the Settings icon to open the settings panel.
Step 2: Go to the Privacy tab.
Step 3: Now, head over to the Location Services.
Step 4: Select Passbook.
Step 5: You can find two options on your screen. First, Never. Second, While using the App. Just un-tick the Never option to disable location service for Passbook.
That’s it! Now, you won’t get any notification on your lock screen since the location service is deactivated for Passbook.
