Fix: USB Drive is Appearing Twice in File Explorer

This time, we are going to use Registry Editor and you do not have to install any third party software. Therefore, you can hide the USB drive that appears as standalone icon in File Explorer. Now, let’s check out the following steps to get things done.

As mentioned before, you do not have to install any third party software. You can hide duplicate USB drive icon with the help of Registry Editor. This is very easy and not much time consuming. Therefore, at first, open Registry Editor. To do so, press Win + R, type regedit and hit enter. Alternatively, you can search for regedit in your Taskbar search bar. The same thing will be appeared on your screen.

Precaution: As you are going to make some change in Registry Editor, this is always a good practice to backup registry files and create a system restore point.

Now, after opening Registry Editor, navigate through the following path,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\DelegateFolders

Here, you can find a key named {F5FB2C77-0E2F-4A16-A381-3E560C68BC83}.

Delete registry key to fix usb drive is appearing twice in file explorer

Right click on this key and delete it.

That’s it! Now you cannot find one of the USB drive icons in File Explorer.
