Microsoft has been developing Windows 10 since a long time now and over the past couple of months, they have included tons of features in this operating system. Although some features are not available in Anniversary Update yet you can find them in Insider Preview. However, Microsoft has developed a substitute to traditional Paint app, which is known as Paint 3D that allows users to work on 3D models or objects. It doesn’t matter whether you want to create a 3D cartoon character or shape, you can certainly do that on Paint 3D. If you are using the latest Insider Preview build, you might already know that there is an option called Edit with Paint 3D in the right-click context menu. If you want to remove Edit with Paint 3D from right-click menu, here is a tutorial.
There are several ways to open the Paint 3D app on Windows. For example, you can use the Start Menu, Taskbar search box or Cortana search box, or even from right-click context menu. You can find an option (like said before) in the right-click context menu so that you can open any object quicker than ever. Having said that, let’s assume that you do not want to use the Paint 3D app on your computer. Let’s say you do not work on 3D objects. Therefore, this option is indeed an additional option that is unnecessary to have. Therefore, you can simply delete it from the right-click context menu.
Remove Edit with Paint 3D from Right-Click Menu
To remove Edit with Paint 3D option from right-click context menu, you can head on to the Registry Editor and there is no need to use any third-party tool since you can indeed do so without any tool. How you should backup Registry files and create a system restore point. The backup will let you restore the deleted option in future in case you want to get that back. The system restore point will let you get back the system if you face any issue during the Registry tweak.
At first, open Registry Editor. To do so, press Win + R together, type regedit, and hit Enter. Following that, navigate to the following path,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Classes > SystemFileAssociations
In the SystemFileAssociations key, you can find different other file extensions i.e. .jpeg, .bmp, .png etc. If you want to remove the Edit with Paint 3D option from context menu of .bmp images, just find the .bmp > Shell > 3D Edit.
Therefore, remove the 3D Edit key completely. Following that, you cannot find any Edit with Paint 3D option in right-click context menu. Similarly, if you want to remove the same option from .png images, you need to navigate to the corresponding path as you have done for .bmp images.
That’s it! This is as simple as said. Hope you would like this tutorial.
