How to Reset Windows 10 Password if Forgotten

Remove All Built-in Apps in Windows 10 from Current and All Accounts

At first, insert your Windows 10 bootable disk and select Repair your computer. Therefore, choose Command Prompt. Now, you will have to backup the sticky key. To do so, enter the following command,

copy c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe c:\

Therefore, enter this command,

copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe

Following that, you will have to reboot your machine. When you are on boot screen, hit the Shift key 5 times to open command prompt with administrator privilege. Thereafter, enter this command,

net user username newpassword

do not forget to replace ‘username’ with actual local account’s username and ‘newpassword’ with your password that you want to set.

This method works great on Windows 7 and it should work on Windows 10 as well.

Here is yet another method to reset Windows 10 password if you have forgotten. This is easy and but takes a longer time than aforementioned methods. You need to call Microsoft technical support. They will verify the call with some required security questions. Following that, they will instruct you to reset the password.
