Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL – Yet Another Windows Phone Launched At CES16

The CES’16 show has been witnessed Windows based devices as well this year. Windows based tablets, mobile phones getting announced by various companies. Joining them, The Alcatel OneTouch mobiles launched another Windows based smartphone at CES this year called Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL (that’s a big name), after their pixi series announcement happened a day before. According to reports, there is also an Android variant of the same model which was already announced last year by the company.

Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL is a kind of above-average ranged smart phone, even though they aren't high-end, but comparatively higher for a Windows platform.

This device has curve shaped body with plastic back. No shiny metals, nothing same as most of Lumia phones would look like. If plastic slips from your hand, you gotta be careful while holding this guy or buy yourself a cover. Anyway, coming to display, Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL has a 5.5 inch 720p HD display with Dragontrail Glass Protection. Not the greatest, but looks okay on a Windows based phone, though you could definitely differentiate between a 5.5" 720p and 1080p displays. That said, you wouldn't find any issue with it's touch responsiveness, getting appropriate color production and viewing angles, even though not the best. Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL measures 151.9 x 77.8 x 9.4mm and weighs 174 grams in hand with plastic back and battery. So it isn’t neither the thinnest smartphone nor the lightest.

Under the hood, Alcatel One Touch Fierce XL features a 1.1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 SoC (Cortex- A7 CPU). With 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage which can be expandable up to 32 GB using MicroSD Card, this device runs Windows 10 Operating System. Even though these are mediocre specs, but sufficient enough to get Windows 10 running pretty smoothly. You wouldn't find any lag in this device while using it, even though it isn't the best performing device yet. You can load apps, games and play HD videos in this device. Even though the internal storage is limited to 16 Gigs, its expandeability would save you from getting out of storage errors.

Coming to Camera, Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL features 8 MP autofocus camera with LED flash on the back and 2 MP front facing camera. Clearly, camera isn't asset of this device, and you can expect decent performance. With 8 mega pixels, this device would give you decent, if not the best shots. You can shoot 720p HD video using this device, even though the processor is capable of shooting Full HD videos. And that's also a downside there. Also you cannot expect 2 MP shooter to give best selfie shots either, but it's there.

Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL features a 2500 mAh battery inside which would give you 14 hours of talk time and up to 820 hours of standby time, as claimed by the company. The odd thing tough, this device would take 3 hours time to get completely charged. Coming to connectivity, it is a 4G LTE enabled device supporting category 4 speeds. Other features supported by this device are GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n.

Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL is expected to hit the stores later this month and comes on Late Blue Color.

Even though this is a mediocre device, it is not worst for a Windows platform. Even though the price isn't known yet, it is expected to be affordable and to be revealed soon. If you aren't an high end user with low budget requirement and love Windows paltform, this device would do all the basic needs for you. If you don't play heavy games all the time, be okay with decent camera and processor, this device can be worth considering. And that clear decision cannot be made right now as we aren't aware of the price of this device.
