Coolpad, another company from China announced Coolpad Note 3 Lite, as a brother to the successful device from the company, Coolpad Note 3. Note 3 Lite, like it’s big brother, packed great specifications on paper. Apart from it’s specifications, the great thing being, the attractive price bracket this device is coming out with, which is below 7k.

Design and Display

Coolpad Note 3 Lite has a curvy body built with plastic. Even though this isn’t a uni metallic with premium looks, this device isn’t that bad. The plastic material used to build this device is of high quality and feels grippy in hand. The shiny gold metallic band on the body all over gives nice feel. Coming to display Note 3 Lite has 5 inch 720p HD IPS display. Again, pixel junkies might not find it impressive, for average users, it would be satisfactory. We have already had many devices with 720p resolution on 5 inch display working appropriately. You would get apt brightness, vivid color production, nice color production and clear viewing angles. Note 3 Lite measures 140.8 x 70.4 x 8.9 mm and weighs 152 grams in hand which isn’t may be the the thinnest or lightest of all budget smartphones, won’t give you any hardtime carrying it. Another great feature being, this device’s fingerprint scanner, which sits just below the camera enhancing your security experience.

Beneath the Hood

Inside, Coolpad Note 3 Lite features 1.3 GHz 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735 SoC coupled with Mali-T720 GPU. Having 3 GB RAM and 16 GB flash storage which can be expandable up to 64 GB via MicroSD, this device runs Cool UI 6.0 which is the customization skin from the company on top of Android Lollipop v5.1 Operating System.

On paper, these specs seem really helping advancement of budget oriented smartphones. Even though quad-core CPU isn’t a power beast, for an average consumer, no difference in performance can be experienced often. This processor can handle multi tasking very well without any lag. 3 GB RAM in this device is a huge plus helping boost its performance. You can load bunch of apps, play High graphical games, watch HD videos without hesitation. Even though 16 GB storage might not impress many, that wouldn’t be a reason to not to buy this guy in any way, considering it’s expandability using SD Card and the price tag it’s attached with. We can expect Lollipop to get updated to latest versions via OTA soon. Overall, thumbs up to Note 3 Lite core specs.

Camera Department

Coolpad Note 3 Lite comes with 13 MP primary camera with LED flash on the back and 5 MP sensor on the front. Again, on paper, this is a great deal for the price bracket of this device. This camera would give you nice performance giving you shots with appropriate clarity on daylight, LED flash is there anyway to save you at low light conditions. On the front, even though 5 MP sensor isn’t great selfie camera we have see by far, it would give you decent selfie shots. We don’t have official information about the video recording abilities of this device, but it is expected to take HD videos with nice quality.

Battery and Connectivity

Coolpad Note 3 Light comes with 2500 mAh battery which would give you decent performance if you are an average user. Even though this battery has to handle HD display, your usage would decide the backup time. Coming to connectivity options, Note 3 Lite is a 4G enabled dual SIM device supporting other basic features such as Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS. Having 4G enabled Dual SIM slots plus MicroSD card slot is a great plus which isn’t offered by many devices these days. This device also supports USB OTG using which you can transfer your external data to your device very easily which is again good.

Conclusion

As far as it’s specs on paper, Coolpad Note 3 Lite is a great device in one word with Fingerprint scanner, 3 GB RAM which is a huge plus, expandable storage and 4G dual SIM and USB OTG Support. This isn’t a perfect smartphone with some drawbacks, though like HD quality display, mediocre processor, lack of NFC and USB Type-C. That said, we need to remember that we are talking about a device with less than 8k price. So the appropriate question wouldn’t be whether it is a perfect smartphone or not, but whether it would justify your money. The answer is yes looking at the specs on paper. Note 3 Lite offering great features for very impressive price bracket. Even though this mobile isn’t perfect, it is definitely pushing the boundaries of cost of mobile phones, which is good. So, if you aren’t looking for a top notch high end smartphone and consider your budget, this device could be a nice pick.
