The yet another Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Meizu is trying its best to create a place in Indian Smart Phone market. The company had released couple of devices now, including M2 (Which is a nice and budget friendly device) , M2 note, MX4. As a successor to MX4, the company recently released MX5 with some great specs. This device got improvements in some aspects compared to MX4. So let’s take a look at this device.
MX5 got some nice features such as Touch ID scanner, 20.7MP primary camera and 3150mAH battery. Let’s dig into specs and find out whther it’s worth a buy.
Design, Dimensions and Display
This device is made up of metal. It looks shiny with metallic finish and curved sides. The device looks nice and gives premium feel. You wouldn’t find it that much slipper too while holding it.
Coming to display, this device has got a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p (1920 x 1080 resolution) with a pixel density of 401ppi. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection to avoid screen damage.
As you can see, this is a nice display. With great viewing angles, vivid color production and brightness, this device looks great. Also you wouldn’t find any issues regarding touch responsiveness of this device.
Coming to the dimensions of this device, it measures as 149.9×74.7×7.6mm. As you can see, it is only 7.6mm thick and weighs 149 grams in hand.
Overall this is very thin device with premium design.
Processing Unit and Software
Meizu MX5 features 64-bit 2.2GHZ Octa-core MediaTek MT6795T (Helio X10) Processor coupled with PowerVR F6200 GPU. Coming to storage, this device has 3GB RAM and 16GB storage. It is not expandable as it has no SD Card slot. This device runs FlyMe OS 4.5 On top of Android Lollipop v5.1 and also supports OTG.
Clearly, this device performs smoothly without any lag and handles multi tasking and high end processing. You can view HD videos and play HD games on this device without any issues.
This device has a whooping 20.7 primary camera with 6P lens having a dual LED flash on the back for handling low light environments, and 5MP sensor on the front.
Although this is not the best camera in the world, You can expect some decent shots using this device. Photos would be nice quality. This camera also features and you can take 4K videos also. It has 5MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture which would give you some decent selfie shots.
This device has a 3150mAh non removable battery on the back. This device delivers good amount of battery backup. If you are an average user, you could be able to last a day without running for a charger using this device.
Connectivity and Others
MX5 is a dual Nano-SIM device and supports 4G. It supports Bluetooth V4.1, wi-fi also. It has embedded with sensors such as Accelerometer, Compass, proximity sensor and Gyro-sensor.
There is a touch ID based fingerprint scanner on this device. Using the home button, you can unlock your device using your finger print. This would help in making your device more secure.
This device is available at Rs.17,999/- for purchase. Considering it’s price bracket, this device comes with great display, faster CPU, nice camera and great battery. Although this device runs pretty smoothly, people who got hands on have been reporting some heating issues while using this device. You might get this device heated while using (tasks which consume more CPU power such as while heavy gaming and recording 4K videos etc), this is a great deal for the given price.But you have to make some sacrifices such as NFC- so you cannot use Android Pay. If you like this device, you can definitely give a try.
