Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the S9 Plus, two of its flagship devices of 2018 last month at the Mobile World Congress. Both these devices are just an incremental update over the last year’s devices and Samsung has not included any completely new feature to the device, which is both good and bad.
Good because it has decided to maintain the same best design and display from the last year, however it is bad because it still hasn’t removed or replaced the Bixby button on both the devices for something else.
While it has to be agreed that Bixby has been considerably improved and upgraded over last year’s version, it is still in its early stages and seriously lacks some abilities that are possessed by Google Assistant, its number one competitor. Therefore most users don’t prefer having a dedicated button to launch Bixby as there are other ways like voice commands and launcher shortcut to do that.
So, if you are on the list of the annoyed Samsung users who don’t want a dedicated button for a service that they rarely use, then you would be really happy to know that you can now replace the Bixby button action to launch some other app or service or action of your choice and you don’t even need a rooted device to do that.
If you are looking for a way to remap the Bixby button on your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus device to some other launch action, then just follow the below step by step instructions to do it.

However, before you proceed, keep in mind that this method will work only if you have the Bixby service already enabled on your device. Also, since this service has to always keep scanning for the usage of the Bixby button on your device, it might slightly affect your battery life too. So, if you are ok with these prerequisites, then feel free to follow the below steps.
How to remap the Bixby button on the Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus
First, download and install the Bixby Button Remapper – bxActions app from the Google Play Store on your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus device.
Once you have installed the app, open it and then click on next to proceed. You will be asked to enable the foreground app permission.
Click on the first enable switch and the app will automatically take you to the usage access settings on your device.

You will now be taken back to the app main screen where you would find the get button events enable button.

Just click on it and then you will be taken to the accessibility service settings page on your device.
Just select the Bx actions app from the list and then enable to allow the app to detect the button press event on your device.
Once you have enabled all the necessary permissions and requirements, the app will now be ready to function.
To assign the action for when you press the Bixby button on your device, just click on the Actions option on the app home page followed by Bixby and then standard action.
The app will now show you the list of all available actions, apps, and services which you could select to replace the Bixby button action to launch the Bixby service.
You can select from a list of useful options like remap the Bixby button to take screenshots, toggle do not disturb mode, toggle the power menu and even to launch the Google assistant directly from your lock screen.
However, if you purchase the pro version of the Bx actions app, you get some extra options like distinguishing between short and long press or double press of the button and even the option to assign actions to the volume buttons on your device.
That’s you have successfully used the Bx actions app to remap the Bixby button on your Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus device. Let us know in the comments below how well this method works for you and what option did you select to use the dedicated Bixby button on your device for.
