Both Google and Motorola produce best Android devices every year. Google had announced their flagships this year namely Nexus 6P and 5X while Motorola announced updated flagships in Moto X Line, the new Moto X Style. While Moto X Style has got many improvements from it’s previous devices and gained popularity because of it, Nexus 5X also got good reviews as the best mid-range budget smart phone this year by Google, . Design and Dimensions

Both devices are made up of high quality durable materials. Nexus 5X is made up of Premium injection modeled polycarbonate housing. Both devices feel premium pasting in had and give good grip for holding. Nexus 5X has new USB Type C port which offers some advantages, but Moto X Style has Micro USB port. Moto X style is a dual nano-SIM device while Nexus 5X supports only single SIM. Both devices look great in design and build.

Coming to display, Moto X style has got a huge 5.7 inch IPS LCD display with 1440×2560 Quad HD resolution at 520 pixels per inch, Nexus 5X has 5.2 inch FHD LCD display with 1920 x 1080 resolution at 423 pixels per inch. If you are pixels fan, then Moto X Style would be the choice for you. But again, more pixels means, more battery consumption. Nevertheless, both devices offer crispy display with great viewing angles.

Coming to dimensions, Moto X style is bigger than 5x with huge display. So it looks big and weighs more in had. Nexus 5X has some what smaller display than Style, and feels light in hand.

Technical Specifications

Nexus 5X runs the updated Android Marshmallow 6.0 operating system. But Moto X Style comes with Android Lollipop 5.1.1. However, it will get updated to Marshmallow soon. Nexus series from google always be first devices to get updated to newer Android devices and give pure stock Android experience. Motorola also, unlike other companies like Samsung and HTC, offers nearly Stock Android experience to its users without adding their own customization on top of the OS. Moto X style users would get additional features like Moto X assist. So, both devices offer same software experience, but if you want to get Marshmallow right away, you can go for Nexus 5X.

Coming to hardware, both devices run 1.8GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chip set with Adreno 418 GPU. So both would offer some great performance experience to its users. However, Nexus 5X comes with 2GB RAM, while Moto X Style has 3GB RAM. Both models have 16GB/32GB storage variants. One thing to note here is Moto X Style comes with expandable storage up to 128 GB.

Even though both devices have similar CPU and GPU, While performing in real time, Nexus 5X turned out to be winner than Moto X Style handling multi tasking and high end processing with its new Android Marshmallow OS on Geek bench.

Nexus 5X has an auto-focus 12.3MP primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture with dual flash sensor on back, and 5MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture at front.

Moto X style has an auto-focus 21MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture with dual LED flash and 5MP wide angle lens with f/2.0 aperture with flash at front.

Even though Moto X Style has more pixels, Nexus 5X has Sony sensor which handles image processing very well with less pixels. Both devices would give some nice shots for you. One different to not here is, Moto X style takes the cup in front camera section with it’s wide angle camera with flash to take some good selfies.

Coming to video recording, both models have enough pixels to shoot crispy 4K videos at 30 frames per second. Both can record slow motion videos too. Features like Panorama, Auto HDR etc work well on these devices.

Battery
Nexus 5X has a 2700 mAh battery and Moto X Style comes with 3000 mAh battery. Though on paper Moto X style seems to have more amount of battery, due to its bigger screen and more pixels, it may drain quickly.

Nevertheless, both devices give some decent amount of battery life to the users. One notable thing here is Moto X style comes with Turbo Charging feature to charge your phone quickly if you are in hurry.

Both devices are great mid-range smartphones with some pros and cons. After looking at features, which one to choose from really depends on your needs. Moto X Style has some nice features as big camera, huge stereo speakers at front and big crispy screen. And Nexus 5X comes with Marshmallow, with all Google ‘s new features. That said, Moto X Style will get updated to Marshmallow Soon.
