On the other hand, Mozilla Firefox is another awesome browser which comes with almost all the features that a user should have. It doesn’t matter whether you use the browser for opening the Facebook account or doing business work, you can certainly utilize Firefox with ease.

Therefore, you can integrate Firefox settings in Windows Group Policy editor and change any setting right from there. However, that is possible only if you are using Firefox V60 or later edition.

The main advantage is you can find different options very quickly. You do not have to search for an option for a long time as before. As you can see different folders, all the corresponding options will be placed in those respective folders. Therefore, changing a particular thing would be more comfortable when you integrate Firefox settings in Windows Group Policy.

Requirements

The first requirement is you should use Firefox V60. Older version users cannot do so.

The second requirement is you should have Windows 7 or later version. You can have Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 as well.

The third requirement is you must have the Policy Template. Policy Template is an open-source project that will let you do all the things as mentioned earlier.

How to Integrate Firefox Settings in Windows Group Policy

This is very easy when you follow the following steps. To get started, you need to download the Policy Template from GitHub. This is an open-source project, and you can check out the source code as well for any possible inspection. You can download the Policy Template from here. On the other hand, make sure you are using Firefox V60. To check that, open Firefox browser and click the three-dotted button visible on the top-right corner and select Help > About Firefox.

Therefore, you can find a popup on your screen where the current version will be mentioned.

Now, after downloading the Policy Template, unzip the zipped folder. You should find a folder named “Windows”.

After that, copy the firefox.admx and mozilla.admx files from the “windows” folder. Therefore, navigate to this path:

C:\WINDOWS\PolicyDefinitions

Alternatively, you can press Win + R and enter this:

%systemroot%\PolicyDefinitions

Paste those two files in the PolicyDefinitions folder.

Following that, open the windows folder and go to en-US folder. Here you can find two files names firefox.adml and mozilla.adml. Copy those two files and open up this path:

C:\WINDOWS\PolicyDefinitions\en-US

Alternatively, you can press Win + R and enter this:

%systemroot%\PolicyDefinitions\en-US

Paste those two files in that en-US folder inside PolicyDefinitions.

Therefore open up the Local Group Policy Editor on your Windows computer. For this, you can search for it in the Taskbar search box in Windows 10. Alternatively, you can press Win + R, type gpedit.msc and hit the Enter button. Now navigate to this path:

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Mozilla > Firefox

How to Integrate Firefox Settings in Windows Group Policy

  • Allow add-on installs from websites: If you want to prevent everyone from installing add-on in your Firefox browser, you can enable this option. It will block the add-on installation and instead you can find an error message while trying to install any add-on.

Bookmarks:

You can setup a bookmark using this option. There are five options – from Bookmark One to Bookmark Five. Open up any option by clicking twice. Therefore, select the Enabled option and enter Title, URL, Favicon URL, Placement, and Folder Name.

Therefore, click the Apply and OK button to save the bookmark.

    I am trying to add multiple bookmarks into this and with one bookmark it works if i add a second bookmarks both disappear. The same thing happens if i try to add more to startup.
