Previously, WhatsApp blocked people from forwarding message to up to five people. However, now they have rolled out a new feature that will let you block friends from adding you to the WhatsApp group.

WhatsApp groups are something where everything happens. Different political parties to business person – everything uses WhatsApp groups to share various news. As a result, common people are victim since they do not verify the news. They just share or forward it to another group. That is how fake news spreads within moments. According to a personal study done by various professionals, this is very easy to spread the news via WhatsApp group than Facebook or Twitter.

The main problem with WhatsApp is there was no option to prevent people from adding you to a group. That means anybody could add you to a group and start tracking some news that might not be true by facts. WhatsApp users needed to remove himself/herself manually if he/she doesn’t want to get involved in such groups. However, the scenario has been changed with the release of this feature.

WhatsApp recently rolled out new functionality that will let you block people from adding you to WhatsApp group. There is another option that will block other people (those are not in your contacts) from including your number in a group without your consent. As of now, this feature is available only in the BETA version of WhatsApp. Therefore, if you are using the stable release, you might need to wait for some more days. However, you can try to update your WhatsApp application so that you can get it as soon as they release it.

As mentioned earlier, you need to have the latest BETA version of WhatsApp on your mobile. Also, this feature is available only in the official release of WhatsApp. If you are using a third-party app, you cannot get it as of now.

To get started, open the WhatsApp application on your mobile and tap the three dotted button visible on the top-right corner of your screen. Here you can find an option called Settings that you need to open.

In the Settings menu, you should find the Account option. Go to the Account option and select Privacy. On this screen, there is an option named Groups. Open this option to get all the settings. In the Group menu, you can find three options, i.e., Everyone, My contacts, and Nobody.

If you choose Everyone, this functionality won’t do anything since you are allowing everyone to add you to various WhatsApp groups. If you choose My contacts, only your contacts will be able to add you to any group. If you do not want to allow anybody to add you to any group, you have to select Nobody.

If you select the third option, any WhatsApp group admin will get this following error message while adding your number to a group.

Considering the current situation, this is a long-awaited feature that was required for a long time. Finally, they have released it. In simple words, you should enable this feature if you are bored with being a victim of various WhatsApp groups and their admins.
