The primary step to speeding up your Chromebook is realizing the reason behind the lag. We all are familiar with the Task Manager (Ctrl+ Alt+ Del option) on Windows. Similarly, Chrome itself has a task manager.

In case you prefer a more detailed view, hitting Stats for nerds option on the bottom-left portion does it.

·         Turn off Rarely Used Extensions

All browsers stutter with too many extensions, so does Chrome. There are some extensions on our browser that we don’t regularly use, still can’t uninstall. If you have such extensions on your browser, you can install Extensity.

Extensity is a browser extension for Chrome, which makes activation and the deactivation easier. Hit the Extensity button on the browser to get a list of add-ons. And, you can enable or disable them from there.

·         Change a Few Settings

Of course, Chromebook isn’t a full-fledged computer you can fiddle with. For the same reason, there are not many options you can change as well. Nonetheless, you can turn a few to boost the performance.

First, follow Menu>> Settings>> Advanced Settings>> Privacy. There, you can see a bunch of options. No, you shouldn’t turn them off altogether. Look for the following three options.

  • Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
  • Pre-fetch resources to load pages more quickly
  • Use a web service to help resolve spelling errors

·         Powerwash Your Chromebook

Powerwashing is a process, in which your chromebook will be reset. You will lose all your stored files. So, it is important for you to move all such files to Google Drive or any other external storage devices.
