You know that Windows 10 has a beautiful login screen. Although, you cannot use any third party image as login screen background (this is possible with logon screen or lock screen background), but it looks very good indeed. There is no such clutter and complicated option. You can just find a profile picture, name, email address and password entry box.

Now, some people have problem with this is username, name and email address. When you sign in to your Windows 10 machine with your email address or include email address to your Windows 10 machine to synchronize different things across multiple devices, Windows 10 shows that on login screen. On the other hand, some time, it can show the username if you are not using the Outlook email address or any other Windows Live email ID.

This is the easier method between two methods. As usual, you do not have to install any third aprty software as Group Policy Editor is an in-built tool of Windows OS.

At first, open Group Policy Editor. To do so, press Win + R, type gpedit.msc and hit enter. Following that, navigate through the following path,

Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options

Here, you can find a label called “Interactive logon: Display user information when the session is locked”. Double click on this to open the corresponding settings. You can find a popup window like this,

This is another easy method to hide user information from Windows 10 login screen. But, some people prefer to use Group Policy Editor over Registry Editor because that is more user friendly. However, let’s check out this method.

At first, open Registry Editor. To do so, press Win + R, type regedit and hit enter. After that, navigate through the following path,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Here, you should get an entry called “dontdisplaylastusername” on your right hand side. But, some people have claimed that they are not getting such entry at the given place. If you are not getting such entry, do create it. Right click on the empty place, select New >> DWORD (32-bit) Value. Now, name it “dontdisplaylastusername”.

After that, double click on this set the value to 1.

Now, create another DWORD (32-bit) Value and name it as “DontDisplayLockedUserID”. For this, set the value to 3.

That’s all! You are done. Now, you cannot find user information on Windows 10 login screen.
