Lava Announced P7 With 1GB RAM At ₹5,499

The Indian smartphone manufacturing company Lava announced another budget friendly device called P7 for very attractive price – Rs.5.4k. This device got nice aspects that would attract average customers, which is the major window in Indian smartphone market.

Lava P7 comes with a 5 inch FWVGA (854 x 480 resolution) display with Corning Gorilla glass protection to avoid external damage. Even though this doesn’t come any near to HD 720p displays we’ve been seeing, Since this is a budget smartphone, the company made the sacrifice in this aspect to fit it into the price. But, on a 5 inch screen, 480p display would work decent, if not the best. Under the hood, Lava P7 features a 1.2GHz Quad Core MediaTeck processor, which isn’t bad at all considering the price bracket. You can perform multi tasking activities in this device without getting any hitches, if not high-end if you will. With 1GB RAM and 8 GB Flash storage, this device would give you decent performance allowing you to add apps you like and letting watch HD videos. If you think on storage front atleast, this device would’ve been better, hold on there because this device has storage expandability up to 32 GB using Micro SD Card. So, if you worry that you may run out of storage, there there.

In camera department too, this budget oriented phone comes with below average specs on paper. Lava P7 has 5MP primary shooter with LED flash on the back and 2MP shooter with LED flash on front. These specs might look bad now because of increased availability of smartphones now, I remember many Lumia phones costing approx 20k having 5MP shooters. Under this 5k price bracket, you have to deal with the specs of this device anyway. You can expect decent performance, if not the best, from this camera. Having LED flash on the front is a plus, though.

Coming to connectivity, Lava P7 is a 3G Dual SIM (dual standby) device supporting Wifi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. If you think 4G is supported by many phones, you need to know the fact which is many of them do not have support for India. Even though in near future you may end up having 4G as a default feature. That said, there are actually cheaper 4G enabled rivals out there. Lava P7 comes with 2000mAh battery from which you can expect nice battery backup since it has less pixels and quad core processor to deal with, You may end up having day or two back up time without running for a charger. There are some nice features too in this device, according to the report, Lava P7 comes with Google Indic Keyboard supporting 12 Indian languages with smart wake up and custom gestures. Being available in blue and gold colors, Lava P7 is priced at ₹5,499 and expected to hit the Indian smartphone markets soon.

If you are expecting a okay display, nice processor, decent camera and connectivity options, and money is your priority rather than a top notch performer in your hand, you can consider this device to buy. That said, this device is another example how much demand is there for low priced devices in India which letting companies to lower the price brackets and helping push the limits of technology.
