Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon Variant : A Glance At Specs

China based smartphone maker Xiaomi announced yet another Note device naming it Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon variant. You might already know that there has been announcement of the company’s note device, Note 3 which came out as a successor of Redmi Note 2 back in November. Initially though, there was a little bit of confusion regarding name of this device as Note 3 Pro and some websites mentioned it as the same, but according to the official source we got to know that it is not Redmi Note 3 Pro, but just another variant of Note 3 itself, with some enhanced specs on paper. This device got announced in China a week before or so, and is expected to hit the world market soon.

Design, Display and Dimensions

Redmi Note 3 has a metallic uni body design with curved edges. Typical Redmi Note series design though, noting different if you will. With shiny looks, this device gives you premium feel while holding. Xiaomi offering a fingerprint scanner on the back to give you better experience so that’s a plus here. Coming to the display, Redmi Note 3 packs a 5.5 inch Full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with 178 degree viewing angles. This super sharp high quality display would impress you if you are a fan of pixels. On a 5.5 inch screen, 1080p resolution would be of great quality giving you appropriate brightness, vivid color production and great viewing angles. In a world of huge smartphone displays, 5.5 inches would be legitimately big so you can watch high quality multimedia content without hesitation. If you take a look at the dimensions, this guy measures 150 x 76 x 8.65 mm and weighs 164 grams in hand. Clearly, this device is thin, and light weight with it’s metallic body and bigger 4000 mAh battery inside.

Overall, in the design department, Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon variant deserves a thumbs up.

Beneath the Hood

Removing the screws, Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon variant features a 1.8 GHz 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC (1.2GHz ARM A53 Cortex x 4 + 1.8 GHz ARM A72 Cortex x 2) coupled with Adreno 510 GPU, one of the first and foremost devices to include within. On storage side, this device comes in two options – 2 GB RAM + 16 GB flash or 3 GB RAM + 32 GB Flash, which is good for people who concern about the budget. As all the Xiaomi devices do, Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon Variant runs MIUI 7 on top of Android Lollipop Operating System.

Again, Core specs of this device look great on paper. This device can easily handle high end multi tasking without any hitches, and you can run high-end graphics games comfortably too, thanks to it’s RAM and GPU. On the storage side, we do not have official confirmation regarding the expandability, apparently this device doesn’t support that. Producing a powerful device having specs in this range, I don’t know why the company choose to do that, but for me, it is definitely a downside as people now a days are using their devices to store their favorite multi media content. Nonetheless, you got to live with that if you are willing to buy this device. Otherwise, no issues would be there with the performance of this device.

Camera Department

Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon variant comes with a 16 MP primary sensor (Phase-Detect Auto Focus, Dual-Tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture) with 1080p video recording and 120 frames per second slow video recording support on the back; a 5 MP sensor (f/2.0 aperture ) with 1080p video recording support.

Again, these are great specs on paper. As Xiaomi is known for delivering sharp images, this device with quick focus of just 0.1 second would give you crispy great shots with it’s 16 Mega pixels on the day light, also would perform nice on low light conditions with it’s LED flash on the back. This device seems not to include 4K video support even though it has enough pixels to fit into the price bracket. On the front side, you can take nice selfie shots using 5MP camera, although 1080p video recording seems a little weird and I hardly can comment on the quality of it right now, but we can expect a great output.

Battery, Connectivity and Others

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon variant has a bigger 4000 mAh battery inside with fast charging support using which you can charge the device up to 50% in 1 hour. Having a Full HD display and Hexa core processor, you can expect to get decent backup in this device, if you are an average user.

Coming to connectivity, this device is a 4G enabled dual SIM (hybrid?) device with Wifi 802.11 b/g/n/ac band support, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and GLONASS, and has infrared sensor as well.

Being available in Champagne Gold, Dark Grey, and Silver colors, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon 2 GB Variant is priced at 999 RMB (approx Rs.10.1K), although the price of 3 GB variant is unknown yet. This device is expect to hit the Indian smartphone market soon.
