The Chinese mobile manufacturer, Xiaomi, has been trending in Indian market more than anywhere else. They have the potential to become one of the most valuable Chinese company in India. This is all because of having cheap and well featured mobile, offers and other things. Xiaomi generally use various e-commerce websites to sell their mobiles. However, they have planned to open offline stores as well.

Anyway, Xiaomi is going to launch 2 new two mobiles to extend the Mi flagship. These two mobiles are called Xiaomi Mi5 and Xiaomi Mi5 Plus. Although, it was rumored that Xiaomi will launch Mi5 at 19^th October’s event but later, it was dismissed by the authority.

Nevertheless, the features of those two mobiles have been announced. Xiaomi Mi5 vs Xiaomi Mi5 Plus

Every time Xiaomi makes upgrade in their mobiles and this time, they have done something great. Let’s check this out.

Network & Connectivity

Both of the upcoming mobiles i.e. Xiaomi Mi5 and Mi5 Plus, come with GSM, HSPA as well as LTE. That means, you will get 2G, 3G and 4G LTE. On 3G, you will get 42.2/5.76 Mbps in both. On the other hand, you will get LTE Cat6 300/50 Mbps in Xiaomi Mi5 and LTE Cat9 in Xiaomi Mi5 Plus. Obviously, these two mobiles come with GPRS and EDGE.

On the other hand, you will get Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual band, Direct Wi-Fi, DLNA and mobile hotspot in both of them. Apart from that, GPS, Radio, USB support are common features. However, there is a small yet very useful features that Xiaomi Mi5 Plus has. That is Infrared Port, which is unavailable in Xiaomi Mi5. The surprising thing is, Xiaomi Mi4 had Infrared Port but, this is missing in Mi5.

Dimension & Weight

Although, this is yet not confirmed but it is expected that Mi5 will be much smaller than Mi5 Plus. The thickness of Mi5 is 5.1mm when 7mm is the thickness of Mi5 Plus. At the same time, the weight of both mobiles is not confirmed. But, as per some trustable sources, Mi5 Plus’s weight is around 160g. But, this is almost confirmed that Mi5 would be much lighter than other one.

Display

As usual, Xiaomi is going to launch these two mobiles with same features. You will get 5.3inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen in Mi5 and 5.7inch LCD capacitive touchscreen in Mi5 Plus. On the other hand, the color density is 16M, which is pretty good and common in these days. Surprisingly, the screen resolution is same. You will get 1440 x 2560 pixels of screen resolution ad 554 ppi pixel density in Mi5 and 515 ppi pixel density in Mi5 Plus.

The most beautiful thing is Xiaomi Mi5 Plus comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 when the other one has no such protection, as per the source. This is going to change the customer’s mind since Gorillla Glass is an important element to make display better.

OS, Chipset, CPU, GPU

In terms of OS, both of them are same. You will get Android 5.1.1 aka Android Lollipop in Mi5 and Mi5 Plus. On the other hand, you will get Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset in them. Quad-core 2.2 GHz & quad-core 1.8 GHz CPU is integrated in both of these upcoming Mi series’ mobiles. As mentioned above, these two mobiles have very little difference and the same thing is continued. You will get same GPU. Adreno 530 is included in both of them.

Memory (Internal & External), RAM

Although, both of the mobiles have 4GB of RAM, which is pretty awesome, yet, there is a difference between internal memory of those two mobiles. Xiaomi Mi5 will be available in 2 different variations. You will get 16GB as well as 64GB variant. Whereas, only 64GB version of Xiaomi Mi5 Plus would be available by this Chinese company. As no external memory card would be supported, people will have to think before they buy.

Camera

As usual, Xiaomi has not made any compromise with the camera. But, there is not much improvement as well. You will get 16 MP rear camera in Mi5 and 13MP camera in Mi5 Plus. This is where Xiaomi Mi5 wins. As the camera has some difference, you will get a little change in the resolution as well. The resolution of Mi5 is 5312 x 2988 pixels and Mi5 Plus is 4128 x 3096 pixels. Apart from that, you will get optical image stabilization in Mi5, which is unavailable in the other one. Some other common things like dual-LED flash, autofocus etc. are available in both of them.

Alike rear camera, there is a small difference between front cameras. A 6 MP camera is included in Mi5 when you will get 4 MP front camera is Mi5 Plus. But, both of them are capable of capturing HD pictures.

Battery

As per the sources, this is [almost] confirmed that, Mi5 will have non-removable Li-Pro 3030 mAh battery and Mi5 Plus will contain non-removable Li-Pro 3500 mAh battery. This is where again Mi5 Plus wins. Mi4 came with 3080 mAh battery, which is capable of proving 280 hours of standby on 3G. That means, the Mi5 is going to provide almost same backup when users will get much better backup in Mi5 Plus.

Considering all the things, this is confirmed that Xiaomi has made little but useful changes in Mi5. On the other hand, Mi5 Plus has some good features. Both of them are set to release in November.
